A sad day today....

Normally, I totally enjoy Thanksgiving Day. I do not opt to think on the atrocities the European invaders did to my Native American ancestors, rather, I like to think on all the blessings I have and to be thankful to God for those blessings. I am doing this today too.

However, the love of my life is named Linda, Linda Lee Devol. She agreed to marry me on March 24, 1977 and we did so. She took my name, she bore me four wonderful sons, she has stood by me in all my stupidities over the years. Through all the ups and downs, round and rounds, in and outs, she has had my back. I am intensely in love with her.

This morning I got a text from her sister in California. Their father, Charles Robert Devol, is in ICU again, his blood pressure is falling rapidly, and this may well be it, he may pass on to the next life. He lost the love of his life earlier this year, she passed away in the ICU. 

I not only love Charles, he is one of the few men I have ever looked up to. He is the true definition of a hero. He has never wavered from his responsibilities, he raised five children pretty much on his own. Being a single daddy is in itself a heroic thing to do, but, Charles went to college at night to become a geophysicist. He succeeded in doing so, and provided a good living for his children to boot. 

I had to wake my sweetheart a few minutes ago to let her know what her sister Judy had texted to me. Linda had been up most of the night, and up really early, cooking the feast we will all be partaking of here in a few hours. I cannot even take her up to Oklahoma City to see her daddy today, there are no stations open to fuel my van so we can make the trip. Tomorrow, God willing, we will drive up there and attend unto her seeing her father. Hopefully, he will live long enough for her to love on him before he passes.

There is a preponderance of evidence that we are about to enter another phase in our nation's history. What am I talking about? There has been a concerted effort by socialists and communists to take our nation down, to destroy our way of life and make us a collective of misery. Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, and some of their relatives, sold nuclear secrets to the U.S.S.R. shortly after WW2. They were both executed by firing squad for espionage and treason. They deserved their punishment. Now, we have several politicians in this nation advocating socialism. If you really want to revue what happens under socialism/communism, do a bit of research on post WW2 Russia and China. Yet, many people in our nation believe there is something good and just about both socialism and communism. This is sheer ignorance, and the thing that scares me about those who espouse either of these systems, is that they can and do vote here in our country.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with helping our fellow citizens, nothing at all. However, if our fellow citizens live entirely on the money produced by the efforts of others, and do nothing to help themselves, this is very wrong.

When you do not work, and you can work, and you rely on others to provide your needs, you are a parasite. Plain and simple, you are a parasite and need to be removed from the body. Is this harsh? No, it is not. If you really want to see how a system works when socialism is enforced with the gun, go to Cuba and observe. Those who have an "official" menial job, also have to do something else in the black market economy to survive.

I am not political, not at all. But if you are a huge Hillary or Bernie supporter, you will rue the day if you are successful in getting one or the other elected. Someone has to pay for all those platform promises. You will see ever increasing taxes, less and less freedom, and eventually, we will be a mirrored reflection of China or the old United Soviet Socialist Republic. Later taters...
